The Audio Logs
“If one does not know to which port one is sailing, no wind is favorable.”
These logs will be how we get our reps in, a documentation of sorts, our journal tracking our progress while we build the show. It’s podcast talking about making a podcast. Inspired by The Captian’s Logs in Star Trek, they will log our successes as well as highlight our setbacks. The goal is to produce one log a week. Follow along as we prepare the podcast for the launch date, and figure out our production flows. None of us have any experience with podcasting or broadcasting so this should be fun, lots to learn along the way, so come learn with us!
There is joy in the struggle if you look for it.
In this log, I go over what Mike and myself have been up to with The Chateau de Yamhill. What I have been up to in my own life that has kept me sane during these rough waters that the human race finds itself in right now. Which is mainly me getting back into video games. That old hobby coming back to my life and giving me ideas for the next direction to take Solykos Media. Then I touch briefly on my thoughts about the
In this episode, I once again go on one of my famous rants. I wanted to get things together for a good episode as this was a milestone episode being that it is our 50th published episode. (Trust me we have made more than 50.) As this is my solocast that is a lot of work for one person to do. So once again I just
This episode we bring you back to my Solo Studio Rants. I rattle on about where I have been, why I haven’t been publishing as frequently, and why I need to get back into the swing of things. Then I segue to part of a conversation I had with Mike on a recent Chateau de Yamhill episode. We chatted about videos game we have been getting into lately. Hope you enjoy my rants and the fun convos we have. See you next time in the Garden.
In this episode, Mike and I test out how it will work when we cannot be in the same place at the same time to record an episode. We got our systems set up in both our home studio. Mike messaged me to set up our first call so that we can 1. test the setups and 2. he could explain to me what he has been working in the background. I start the conversation by explaining to him why I was late for the meeting. I had a call with Orbitz because they failed to give us our airline credit when we called to cancel our Japan/Korea trip the first time. Then once I explain to Mike why I was late, we had to get through troubleshooting how we can
This week in the Garden of The Mind Audio Logs I speak to why I haven’t been as active with the Audio Logs this past month. I made it to a year, HUZZAH!!! I also speak to how the COVID-19 virus is affecting my life briefly. I think next, I will put together an episode soon on how I am staying healthy through this lockdown. Having to cancel my trip to Japan and Korea due to this virus. Since I'll be home for a good while, now I can get some work in on my other projects, like this one. I know right?! This is my dream come true, working from home! However, this wasn’t on my radar for how I would receive that dream. Well, I guess, like everyone else I will have to make the most of it. Hope to
This week in the Garden of The Mind Audio Logs we get to do our first edition of Chateau de Yamhill. I didn’t publish the whole episode of the Chateau, but I brought you the first part of our conversation. We had a few dry parts in this one, which only highlights the holes in our game. Which, honestly, gave us a better idea of how to improve our segments. I hope you enjoy our stumbles. After we recorded this we worked on a song, and I feel like it’s Mike’s best work yet. You can find it here: https://soundcloud.com/mrnphp/soaring-above-trees Well that’s it for these show notes it’s getting late and I love bed.

I had some time tonight to record a quick episode. I had a friend over and she lent us her voice for a disclaimer, which I and greatly appreciative of. I feel it adds a little more of a level of professionalism to the episode and will transfer over to all of our projects when it is needed. Which in turn meant I had already gotten into the record mode. So, when she left, I decided “Hey let’s throw an ep at the folk in the interwebs for their listening pleasure.” It also gave me an opportunity to use the disclaimer for the first time. I did not really have much planned and ended up just ranting about some advice I gave a coworker today who had come to me asking about how I would handle a certain situation. I hope you enjoy!
Finally, I got to get together with Mike this weekend and put some work in. It was refreshing to sync back up and get back on track. We made some progress with Chateau de Yamhill and then we recorded a convo between the two of us about the effects of chronic cannabis use in our lives. It was a refreshing talk and highlights the fact that we are in a similar place in our lives in regard to cannabis use. I find it ironic that when we started the podcast and one of the main subjects was
Back with another update, this time it is more about Solykos Media in general, Rather than The Garden of The Mind. It’s been a pretty busy month for me all around. I had thought it would die down a little but it’s actually picked up. That’s life though. Despite the hectic schedule I have managed to still get some time aside to practice my Photoshop skills. That was a blast and look forward

Today I went to a Con and saw cosplayers. It was fun. I got inspired. I made a podcast. I talked about my inspiration. These are those thoughts. I sleep now.

One final check-in of 2019. Not much to say here but, thank you. Thank all of you for the support you have given us this past year. I am truly looking forward to what 2020 has in store for The Garden of The Mind. We haven’t even gotten started yet.
This week we decided to create the sounds samples and the segments for the Chateau de Yamhill. We started the conversation off with a talk Mike explaining to me the in and outs of the SCP Foundation. I had little to no knowledge of this organization so it was an interesting conversation. Which led to us doing an impromptu reading of SCP-087 dialogue. It turned out really
Well we have made it halfway through November and my schedule doesn’t look as if it is going to let up anytime soon. That has made it nice going to Mike’s studio getting some work done there. It makes me step away from everything and focus on making progress with the podcast. This week we worked more on a song we started last week and then recorded a freeform conversation about what we are wanting to do with this to move forward. During the conversation, we created
Tonight, Mike and I attempt to record another Chateau de Yamhill. In my opinion, we fail epically. However, that is what these logs are for. We’re not trying to hide our failures, no, we are trying to learn from them. So here is our epic fail in its entirety. Uncut, raw, and basically coming at you live. Whit that, if you have any feedback for us, shit, please drop us a line and let us know we are trying to serve you in the end anyway. I really appreciate all of you for sticking with us through this journey, it hasn’t been an easy one. Although it has been a learning one, and that’s what this Garden is all about to begin with. So, come join us and let’s learn together.
